Monday Mentorship: Syncing iCloud Calendar to Outlook Calendar David Hallinan Published: October 15, 2019 Photo by Samuel Zeller on Unsplash“If we always helped one another, no one would need luck.”It’s Monday, and that means we’re back with another post aimed at helping you overcome some of the most commonly asked questions about the APIs we work with here at Kloudless. Every Monday, we will aim to help answer some of the more repeated inquiries into the world’s most popular APIs or cloud services. Today, we will be turning to two of the industry’s top names when it comes to cloud calendar management: Outlook Calendar and iCloud Calendar.Outlook Calendar is one of the most commonly used services when it comes to handling your schedule online. However, with the prevalence of iPhones and iPads out there, many people schedule their personal calendars through the built-in iCloud calendar that comes stock on the electronic devices. Unfortunately, Outlook Calendar does not support CalDAV internet standards, so there are a few steps you must take to subscribe your Outlook account to your iCloud Calendar. So, for those of you out there that already find themselves ingrained in both services, we thought we’d help you walk through the process of syncing your iCloud Calendar to Outlook Calendar to simplify your life. It’s actually much easier than you might imagine, but there are a few small hoops to jump through to get it set up.Let’s get started!First, navigate to the Calendar app on your iPhone or iPad. Then, tap the Calendars button at the bottom of the screen.Under ICLOUD, select the calendar that you wish to sync by pressing on the small ⓘ at the right of the calendar you wish to select.Scroll all the way to the bottom and turn on Public Calendar and click on Share Link…Copy the link that is provided to you to your clipboard, or email it to yourself. It will be similar to the structure of a URL but will begin with webcal://Great! Now you can head over to Outlook Calendar on your desktop and sign into your account. At the bottom of the navigation pane, click on the Calendar logo.photo c/o MicrosoftOn the toolbar, select Add calendar, and then choose From Internet.photo c/o MicrosoftIn the Calendar subscription dialog box, paste the URL that you copied from iCloud and give the calendar a name that wish for it to be called before finally clicking on Save. You should see the iCloud calendar listed under Other calendars in your Outlook account! We’d love to hear from you on any API questions you may want us to answer in the future, so please send any requests to email@example.com.
